Panoramas by unkle360
what is a panorama
A panorama is a photographic representation of a place, mapping 2 dimensional photographs into a fully immersive and interactive presentation that the user can control through 360° via the mouse.
process
The process of creating a panorama involves stitching several images together, which when complete produces a full 360° by 180° equirectangular image (the thumbnails on this page are cropped examples). A degree of post production is applied to the resultant image which is then prepared for display on the internet via html and now exclusively flash. The release of flash panorama players and the proliferation of broadband has revolutionised the potential use of panoramic images. Adobe quotes that nearly 98% of all internet enabled computers have the flash player installed eclipsing the figures for other players such as java and quicktime that were the industry standard.
If required it is possible to utilise all the major panorama players to ensure maximum coverage. However there is a considerable loss of function and increase in production time and therefore cost to cater for the very few people that do not have flash installed.
stills
The stitched panoramic image is a striking visual representation of a place on the internet but also work extremely well when printed and framed.
Pieter is currently concentrating his efforts into producing cutting edge flash panorama presentations so please visit this site regularly.
Just a bit of fun :: Chard 2009
The flexibilty of the panorama can sometimes be a bit of fun. To achieve this panorama multiple frames were taken then superimposed and masked before the final stitch was made.
The potential for the panorama is almost limitless and if there is any requests for something a bit different Pieter will endeavour to go the extra mile to achieve a unique result.

Sands of Morar :: Scotland 2008
Probably the most stunning coast line in the whole of Great Britain if not the world. Morar is a special place that draws you back whatever the weather. Probably the only time of year to avoid is midge season.
Rannoch Moor :: Scotland 2008
Shot in the last of the snow the Rannoch Moor Panorama represents the full potential of landscape photography.
